Celebrate the life and adventures of Star Trek: The Next Generation's Jean-Luc Picard with this Kataan probe pendant from one of its most beloved episodes, "The Inner Light." The pendant is made of bronze and was made using ancient lost-wax casting techniques by a small jewelry atelier. The Kataan probe pendant is hand polished and then antiqued to a dark patina by hand to look just like the original. The ball chain is made of sterling silver and will naturally oxidize on its own over time to look even more like the original. The pendant measures approximately 1 1/2-inches tall and the chain is 24-inches long. Both the pendant and its certificate of authenticity arrive in an eco-friendly textured paper gift box, subtly evocative of the traditional green Ressikan box in which Picard received his flute from the probe.
PROP STORY
The Kataan probe pendant serves as a lynchpin of the story, bridging the fading memory of Picard's life as captain of the Enterprise to his new life as the Ressikan ironweaver Kamin. The object, which bears the same form as the probe from the planet Kataan that Picard had recently encountered on the bridge of his ship, shocks and confuses him when he sees it around his wife Eline's neck, setting the stage for the mysteriously shifting realities of an episode that would become an all-time fan favorite. This faithful recreation was created in direct collaborations with Star Trek fans. It is the result of intense study, sophisticated computer modeling, and countless iterative prototypes and experiments: a labor of love for the two lifelong Star Trek: The Next Generation prop replica enthusiasts who designed and produced it, Ethan Williams and Ryan Norbauer.
