The Original Props

Designed by Academy Award-nominated costume designer Jean-Pierre Dorléac, the Colonial Viper Pilot helmet blended futuristic styling with ancient Egyptian "Nemes" headcloth motifs. Only two fully functional "hero" helmets were constructed for the original production, featuring integrated lighting powered by cumbersome external battery packs.

The Replica

Factory Entertainment brought this piece to life by executing a direct digital scan of a surviving original hero prop, cross-referenced against exhaustive production archival materials. While visually identical to the 1978 original, the fragile and heat-prone vintage electronics have been replaced with a self-contained, internal LED system tuned to match the exact luminance of the screen-used illumination. Each helmet features a handcrafted fiberglass body, screen-accurate paint detailing, and a complete fabric inner lining for a clean, display-ready finish.
